The Careful Circle Standards

A private decision membership should be clear about how it behaves.

These standards explain what members can expect from us, what we ask from members, and where the boundaries sit before a difficult decision arrives.

Why this page exists

The terms explain the legal relationship. These standards explain the working relationship.

The Careful Circle is a done-with-you environment. We help members slow down, improve the questions, examine evidence, and make the decision process clearer.

We do not take over the decision, remove uncertainty, or promise a particular result. The final decision remains with the member.

What members can expect from us

Seven standards govern the work.

Standard 01

Clarity before persuasion

We explain what the membership includes, what it costs, what it does not include, and what remains the member’s responsibility before asking anyone to join.

Standard 02

Honesty before certainty

We say when we do not know. We say when the evidence is incomplete. We may disagree with a member, but we should explain why rather than hide behind authority.

Standard 03

Evidence before confidence

Where a conclusion depends on facts, we separate what is known, what is assumed, what is inferred, and what still needs to be checked.

Standard 04

No manufactured urgency

We do not use false countdowns, disappearing prices, wear-down follow-up, or pressure designed to make careful thinking feel like a mistake.

Standard 05

Confidentiality with practical limits

Private matters should be handled privately. Members should not place sensitive third-party information into group sessions or shared tools without proper authority.

Standard 06

Plain language

Important boundaries should not be hidden in clever wording. Members should be able to understand the position without needing specialist knowledge.

Standard 07

Human responsibility remains visible

Tools, templates and AI may assist the work, but named people remain responsible for the standard, judgement and communication behind the membership.

The result

A decision you can explain

The goal is not a perfect decision. The goal is a decision made with clearer reasoning, visible assumptions, understood trade-offs, and fewer avoidable surprises.

What support means

Helpful support is not the same as unlimited access.

Relevant questions

Support may help with the decision tools, the member’s practical next step, and the membership process.

Thoughtful replies

Replies should be honest and useful, not rushed simply to create the appearance of speed.

Clear escalation

Where a question needs more time or qualified outside advice, the member should be told rather than given a false answer.

Published response standard

What “within one business day” means.

1
business day is the normal reply target

Most relevant member emails should receive a reply within one business day.

Some questions are more complex. A full answer may take longer where documents must be reviewed, facts must be checked, or the issue falls outside ordinary support.

Where possible, the member should receive an acknowledgement and a clear indication of what happens next.

This is not emergency support. The membership does not provide 24-hour monitoring, crisis intervention, or an instant-response service.
Confidentiality and recorded sessions

Private matters should not be made public by accident.

  • Email support is the better route for a matter that should not be raised in a recorded group session.
  • Monthly working sessions may be recorded for members who cannot attend live.
  • A recording may include the name, voice or image of a person who participates live.
  • Members should remove unnecessary names, account details and third-party confidential information before sharing material.
  • No member should upload or disclose information they do not have the right to share.
AI and decision tools

Technology may assist the work. It does not become the decision-maker.

How AI may be used

AI may help organise information, compare patterns, draft questions, summarise material, and support the production of tools and documents.

Its output must still be checked against the available evidence, the member’s real situation, and the limits of the tool.

What AI does not change

AI does not remove uncertainty, create professional authority, verify every claim automatically, or accept responsibility for the final decision.

Members should not treat a fluent answer as proof that the answer is correct.

The boundaries

What The Careful Circle will not become.

  • Not a guarantee of success, income, safety, profit or a particular outcome.
  • Not legal, tax, accounting, regulated financial, medical or other licensed professional advice.
  • Not a promise that uncertainty can be removed from a significant decision.
  • Not emergency support or unlimited access to the team.
  • Not a service that makes the final decision for the member.
  • Not a noisy public community built around performance, pressure or status.
  • Not permission to ignore qualified professional advice where it is genuinely required.
  • Not a replacement for checking the facts that materially affect the decision.
What we ask from members

A careful working relationship requires honesty on both sides.

Bring the real decision

Support becomes useful when the important facts, doubts and trade-offs are not hidden.

Challenge your own assumptions

The purpose is not to find reasons to support a preferred answer. It is to test what would have to be true.

Respect other members

Group spaces require ordinary courtesy, discretion and respect for different circumstances.

Keep responsibility

The member remains responsible for deciding, acting, obtaining specialist advice, and living with the outcome.

Use the material lawfully

Access links, tools and member materials are personal and may not be copied, resold or distributed without permission.

Protect confidential information

Only share information that you are authorised to share, and remove detail that is not necessary for the decision work.

Monthly, annual and private support

The level of proximity changes. The responsibility boundary does not.

Monthly and annual members receive the same core Circle membership. The annual path adds one private 30-minute Annual Decision Mapping Session and a concise written Decision Map.

The Private Annual Decision Partnership provides greater proximity and depth. It requires mutual fit, a written scope and a separate agreement. It is structured access, not unlimited access.

Across all three paths, the final decision remains with the member or private client.

The practical close

Know the standards before you decide.

This page does not replace the Membership Terms. It gives you the plain-language working standard that should remain visible throughout the relationship.
